Common BDIS Errors

BDIS Connect Errors

ORA-01017 - Invalid Login.  Your ID or Password is incorrect.

ORA-12203 - TCP/IP is not working on your PC.

DBMS OR8 Not Supported In Your Current Installation - The two causes of this error are:

  1. Oracle 8.0.5 32-bit client is not installed on your PC - follow the installation instructions.

    or

  2. You do not have the proper PATH statement on your PC.  Unfortunately, sometimes the Oracle8 install program cannot put the "BIN" directory in the path (usually if a PATH statement is not in the autoexec.bat).

To test this:

Drop out to a DOS prompt.

Type "PATH" and hit return. The system path will print to the screen.

You must see X:\ORAWIN95\BIN if you have 95/98 or X:\ORANT\BIN if you have NT WS.  'X' represents the drive that you installed the Oracle Client to (C:, D:, E:, ETC).

If you don't see this BIN directory in the path and you have already installed Oracle8, add the statement to the PATH in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and reboot.

BDIS Printing Errors
Synopsis

A report printed from the Cizer Viewer does not print all pages. After two or three pages the browser shows an hourglass and nothing else happens.

Solution:

This is occurring because the connection to the web server is going through several network hops before it gets to the client and network packets are being dropped. Setting the client printer settings to print after the last page has been spooled will resolve the issue.

Please follow these steps to change the printer settings.

  1. On the client machine, go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Printers
  2. Select the printer(s) and then select Properties from the File menu
  3. On the Details tab, select "Spool Settings"
  4. Select "Start printing after last page is spooled"
  5. Click OK twice.

The printer will now wait until the final page of the report has been spooled before it beings printing the report. This will allow the report to process entirely when printing over the web.

If you need assistance, please call the Budget Office BDIS personnel.
